Creative Commons license

All content by the Pisstakers falls under an Attribution-Non Commercial-Share alike Creative Commons license.

All articles on this website, unless otherwise stated, are attributed by default to The Pisstakers.

Articles submitted to The Pisstakers by third party writers will be treated under the same terms as The Pisstakers own material.

The following is a statement of intent to do the right thing when it comes to including other people's material on this website.

  • 1 - We will endeavor to use material on this site that is licensed under a Creative Commons License - and specifically under public domain, attribution and/or non-commercial and share alike licenses.

  • 2 - We will also honor the copyright requirements of the multimedia content featured in our articles.

  • 3 - We respect Fair Use too.

  • 4 - If we post any material that goes against copyright, please tell us and we will remove it.

Attribution.

By way of explanation, you cannot take someone else's work, do nothing to it, and claim it as your own. In our view, attribution of work to an author/creator applies even if work is in the public domain ie free to use without permission.

As a matter of course, we will include a link back to the third party video, photo or graphics item featured in an article. (All multimedia that is embedded automatically links to the original file, but we will also link back manually to non embedded files.)

If possible, we will also credit the creator by name with a link to their main website.

Non-commercial use.

Work can be used by hobbyists with almost no restrictions. We currently come under the category of non-commercial users. However, where the licensing demands some form of remuneration, we will contact the creator of the video, photo or graphics item featured in the article, and confirm that we would like to be able to "pay" for this non-commercial use of their product. In our case, we will pay "in kind" with promotional material for contributors' work and sites.

Share alike

In order to maintain a level playing field, any modifications carried out on someone else's work can only be re-licensed under the same licensing terms of the original work. Therefore, if an author allows us to take their work and add to it, modify it and rejig it, and call it our work, we are obliged to maintain the exact same licensing format.

Conclusion

All the material used here, we hope will carry the same licensing ethos - fair and simple.
