Leave SEO to the experts

Looking for inspiration for a techy post, I had a scan through the statistics and found the external pages that had linked to The Pisstakers this month. It is quite a role of honor and made me realise what a diverse world of tech bloggers lies out there. It is also quite daunting to realise just how "fierce" the competition is. Thank god we aren't serious and don't go head to head with real experts. Take SEO...

Youtube will kill Revver. Time to jump ship?
4 Netscape members voted on the biggest story to hit on-line video in years - go Netscape, go!
And two, what were journalists doing, writing millions of words of conjecture, when three words, "copy Revver model" would have sufficed? Or are another 1.6 billion characters going to say this ad revenue-sharing model isn't a viable paradigm for Google to earn their money back many times over from Youtube?

France iTunes chansons de stupidité

If Apple had invented iChansons, no doubt the French would have welcomed the iCosse MP3 player with open arms - assuming Steve Jobs had changed his company name to la Pomme as well. There is no nation quite as adept as France at putting its spanner in the works of anything that doesn't originate in France.

Extra Life Radio update
We reviewed the Extra Life Radio podcast by cartoonist, Scott Johnson. Out of desperation for material on his own blog, he posted an excerpt & blew up our servers.

2700 hot slots!

Driving out of Philadelphia, there is a huge billboard designed to make red-blooded males veer off the road - 2700 hot slots. The banner is of course referring to the new penny slot casino opening in nearby Chester PA, and has nothing to do with whatever crossed many testosterone-pumped minds.

Zwinky, the mother of all avatar creators has had a mixed review. For a balanced satirical viewpoint, we found the negative comments.

Extra Life Radio podcasting excellence

Scott Johnson is a podcasting cartoonist who hosts a round table of quick-witted, albeit laddish, cartoon and tech geeks. Once a week for a hundred and something weeks they have been running over everything from Wii's to toilet jokes, pooh to iPhones, and games to, by jingo, cartoons. It is compulsive, and at times, repulsive, but always engaging listening! And I say this as someone with zero interest in cartoons and games.

Code to verify you are not a robot

In this day and age of spam it is understandable that Digg and many social sites require you to verify you are a human, by repeating the letters and numbers that appear in a box with a squiggly colored background. I can't tell you how many times I have envied the humans with the eyesight capabilities to actually discern the text.

Crazy icon for Feedburner

In this day and age, if your blog doesn't have an RSS feed tricked out on Feedburner, then you may as well pack up your keyboard and live in a cave. As ever, someone somewhere will take an idea to the extreme. Like CC Tech, whose inviting blog has an even more inviting multi-continental quinto-lingual RSS feed button

Webmaster world blog in robots.txt file

OK, so, when you next decide which fancy blogging software to go for, spare a thought for the uber geek at Webmaster World who decided to write his daily thoughts in a file set aside for google robots! The inhuman readers will derive no joy whatsoever from his witty words, but now is your chance to assess a blog in the weirdest location ever !
We also came across a few other noteworthy blogs and gave them their own space in Pisstakers blogger heaven

iPhone: Minority report meets major bills

Just wow, Mr Jobs, that iPhone is one gadget to make you drool into your cornflakes. It will also make us all work harder! Why so? How else are we going to pay for surfing online 18 hours a day with this Minority Report era gadget. Hopefully, Apple have done a sweet deal with Cingular and the first 17 hours a day will be free?

Worst software in 2006

Seeing as we are supposed to reflect on the past year before hurtling forward into another 12 months of mayhem, we thought we would find some really crap software suggestions for you to avoid. We did a search in Google and went to the last page of results. On page 79 we found Magix MP3 maker. Technically it is from 2003, but ...

John C Dvorak is the pisstaker

The prolific columnist for PC World sits on high, lording over all things computer and PC. Often dubbed a miserable git, he was all smiles explaining his tactic to bait and trap Mac fans into reading his columns. What a pisstaker!
