Website designers let down ex Pope

Update: What do you think to this example of on-line papal crud? You would have thought the guy who used to run the Vatican, Pope John Paul 2, would have had the best marketeers in the business - what with selling god and other dodgy religious concepts in the hi tech 21st century. Not so fast with those assumptions, designer boys and girls.

Javascript and unusability go hand in hand in true early adopter fashion. Let's hope the new regime at RC HQ adopt the W3C maxims more religiously.

Outdesigning the joint

Changing tack ever so slightly, do you have an opinion on this video screen shot of marijuana madness! perhaps.

The video opens in a new window. Sure, this second window breaks all the rules of web site usability, but we did it just in case you have dial up and it takes so long to download that it stops you surfing through The Pisstakers. Not that an enforced break from our rip-roarious content is our main concern, you understand.

The problem is, the title of the video is already embedded in your mind, and in a moment of bored weakness, you may think about toking up while you wait. And as we think drugs are far worse than new windows all over your desktop, and we don't want you getting all slurry and dopey on us, we have chosen the lesser of two evils and broken a basic rule of good web design! (Just need to sort out a few problems of our own and we can really go to town on another day.)

Brought to our attention on a visit to Vincent Flanders' Web pages that suck
